Maddie Daigneau has been the starting shortstop at the University of Maryland Baltimore County since her freshman year. At the beginning of her freshman year, she had the 6th best batting average in the nation with a .489 batting average and was named American East All-Rookie team. Her junior year, she led the conference in stolen bases with 19 steals. She has been top 10 in the conference for batting average all four years. So far in UMBC history she is third all-time for career triples, ninth in stolen bases, and was second-most in junior program history for steals. In her 2020 season she led the team in stolen bases, hits, and defensive assists. She only struck out once in 41 at-bats for the season. In addition, she led the team to the conference championship her junior year. She continues to play her fifth year at UMBC.
